Jaswant Thada Overview

Jaswant Thada is a majestic white marble structure, nestled in the beautiful ‘Blue City’, Jodhpur. Also referred to as the ‘Taj Mahal of Mewar’, it was built in 1899 by Maharaja Sardar Singh. This monument was built to commemorate Maharaja Jaswant Singh II who was the most beloved ruler of Jodhpur, known for his bravery and generosity.

Apart from being a mausoleum, Jaswant Thada also served as the royal cremation ground for the Rajput rulers. Jaswant Thada is an ideal example of Rajasthani architectural style with a blend of Mughal architecture. It has a huge central dome with four smaller domes in the corners, adorned with intricate carvings and artwork.

The palace has huge lush gardens where you can stroll and spot several birds and animals. You can also visit the royal cremation ground, see the memorials as well as learn about the lives and achievements of the royal members making it a charming addition to your Rajasthan Trip.

You can easily get a taxi or an auto-rickshaw from any corner of the city that will drop you directly at Jaswant Thada. You can also rent a bike or a scooter if you wish to explore the city at your own pace.
