JANICULUM

Known to be the city of seven hills, Rome in Italy is one of the world's most magnificent cities, housing over seven giant hills. The eighth and most popular hill is Janiculo, which is known for housing several holy buildings and woods. Although vehicles are prohibited here, several bike rentals are present here, promising a lifetime experience. 

Famous as the "Balcony of Rome", Janículo, or the Janiculum Hill, is one of Rome's largest hills that offers a panoramic view of the surroundings. Since this hill is nestled near Rome's historic center river, it is not a part of the seven hills in Rome. The name Janículo is given after the ancient two-faced god, Janus. Later in the 7th century, the Janículo hill was included in the city's defenses. 

Rome's famous king, namely Ancus Marcius, connected Aventine Hill and Janiculum hill by constructing the Pons Sublicius around the Tuber river. Although this bridge does not exist now; however, other modern equivalents directly connect Testaccio and Trastevere. Hikers generally aim to climb the Janículo hill at sunset or noon. Reason being, an incredible view. 

The top of this mountain promises a panoramic view, motivating all hikers and adventure seekers to ride this mountain. The mountain is surrounded by lush greenery all around. The Janículo hill also features a monument called Parco Degli Eroi, or the Hero's Park.
