Built by the British in 1869, Istana serves as the headquarters as well as the official residence of the President of Singapore. Spread over 106 acres of land, Istana is a beautiful white palace with a neoclassical architectural style.

How To Reach

1. By Car: Istana is located at a distance of around 12 km from the city centre of Singapore. You can reach the attraction in approximately 20 minutes via Upper Thomson Road. You can easily get a taxi from any corner of the city that will drop you directly at Istana. 

2. By Bus: Another convenient option for travelling to Istana is by a local bus. There are several buses that you can take such as 656, 700, 951E, 971E, 972 and 106. These buses will drop you off at the bus stop which is approximately 2 minutes walking distance from Istana.

3. By Train: The nearest MRT station is Dhoby Ghaut station which is around 2 km from Istana. Once you reach the station, take Exit C which is approximately 5 minutes walking distance from Istana.

4. Avoid carrying sharp objects like scissors, and knives and flammable items like lighters.

5. Visitors are only allowed to explore the first floor of the main building so avoid going to restricted areas.
