According to the locals and pious Hindus, the history of Iruppu Falls dates back to the days of Ramayana. It is believed that Lord Rama and his devoted brother Lakshmana passed this way during their exile days in search of Sita who was held captive by Ravana. During their journey, Rama felt thirsty and asked his brother to fetch water.
