Situated in the heart of Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh Complex is one of the most well-known pilgrimage sites in Vietnam. It was built in 1975 to commemorate Ho Chi Minh, the first president of Vietnam. He was loved by the locals who referred to him as ‘Uncle Ho’ who dedicated his entire life to liberating the Vietnamese people. The complex includes Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Presidential Palace, Ba Dinh Square, One Pillar Pagoda, Ho Chi Minh Residence and Ho Chi Minh Museum.
The highlight of the complex is the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum which houses the tomb of Uncle Ho. You can visit the Ho Chi Minh Museum, learn about the life and career of Uncle Ho as well as gain insights into the intriguing history of Vietnam. Another must-visit is the One Pillar Pagoda which is one of the earliest constructions of the complex. Ba Dinh Square is a historically significant location where President Ho Chi Minh read his first speech for the Declaration of Independence. The Presidential Palace served as the office of the Presidents of Vietnam and a place for organising state ceremonies. Behind the palace, you will get to see a beautiful stilt house, surrounded by trees which belonged to Ho Chi Minh.
