GREY STREET

The exquisite Georgian architecture of Newcastle's Grey Street has made it a popular destination for locals and tourists alike for decades, and the street has now been voted one of the most Instagrammed in the United Kingdom.

One of the greatest streets in England, Grey Street was called so by The Buildings of England. During the 1830s, Richard Grainger commissioned numerous architects, including John Dobson, to help him design and construct it. Grainger's architects John Wardle and George Walker were responsible for the entire west side of the roadway. Famous for its Georgian architecture, the area is home to the Theatre Royal, which was constructed by John and Benjamin Green, and the Central Arcade.
