Located on the banks of the River Ulhas, the Ghodbunder Fort is an ancient hill fortress in Thane. Built in the 16th century, the Fort was used by the erstwhile East India Company to trade horses with the Portugese.
Although now in ruins, the fort remains one of the most sought after tourist places in Thane among history buffs, for it still remains some of the Maratha styled rooms and a Portugese Church within its premises.
