The Egyptian Museum in Turin, Piedmont, Italy, is a museum dedicated to the study of Egyptian culture and history. With more than 30,000 objects, it has one of the world's most significant treasures of Egyptian antiquities. And, being one of the prime Turin attractions is second only to the Egyptian Museum in Cairo in terms of importance to the study of Egyptology. One of the largest collections of artifacts from ancient Egypt can be seen at the Egyptian Museum of Turin, commonly known as The Museo Egizio. The museum dates back to 1824; it is often considered to be second only to Cairo's Egyptian Museum in terms of importance and age. The museum's collection has expanded from its humble beginnings as King Carlo Felice's purchase of the Bernardino Drovetti collection of Egyptian antiquities to its current size of more than 40,000 objects.
