The Domus Aurea, or Golden House, is an opulent house with grounds that span over one square mile. It was commissioned by the Roman Emperor Nero to be constructed following the Great Fire of Rome in 64 AD. Spread over a massive area, this complex has got more than 150 rooms embellished with loads of ivory, marble, and gold leaf walls. The complex also gets an impressive entrance with a colonnade and a notable statue of Nero himself.
