Dominikanski Samostan Overview

Featuring the laments of different styles in its structure, the current infrastructure of this Dominican monastery was built in the 14th century. Visitors will find several elements of blended architectural style including the Romanesque, Gothic, Baroque, and Renaissance styles. The monastery also features a beautiful gothic church and houses a stunning collection of paintings from the 15th century.

Built in the 14th century this Dominican monastery is situated in an extremely strategic position inside the city walls. The entire structure is a beautiful blend of several different architectural styles like the Renaissance, Romanesque, Baroque, and gothic. The monastery complex features a church that is heavily influenced by Gothic elements and is one of the most beautiful gothic spaces in the eastern region. Major parts of the monastery complex were built by local builders, and visitors enjoy serene views in the lavish courtyard of the monastery.

The church is also a burial place for several important people from the history pages of Dubrovnik. In addition to this, the monastery also houses a spectacular collection of several paintings belonging to the 15th and 16th centuries. The collection is a mix of both local artists and foreign masters, such as Paolo Veneziano and Titian. Visitors will also get deep insight into the history and culture of the city during their visit, as the monastery has an elegant library with 220 different books, manuscripts and more.
