CLIFTON SUSPENSION BRIDGE

The Clifton suspension bridge is another one of the great works of British engineer I.K.Brunel and is also one of his first works. The bridge is spread across the 260 feet deep Avon gorge and is 702 feet long. Today visitors from all over the world enjoy beautiful strolls with panoramic views on the bridge.

The wonderful structure of the Clifton Suspension Bridge was designed by the famous British engineer I.K.Brunel and spread across the 260 feet deep Avon gorge. The bridge is located on the west side of this limestone Plateau which is known as Clifton down. The 702 feet long bridge which is nestled between its piers, took 33 years to complete after Brunel submitted his design.

The bridge has a wonderful information centre where visitors can learn about the bridge's construction or even book a behind the scenes tour. The bridge offers wonderful views of the city and so visitors enjoy taking a stroll to capture stunning pictures. In addition to this they also grab coffee and snacks to sit across the bridge and enjoy the landscapes of the city background set by the bridge. The bridge is also a short distance away from the Clifton Observatory, which has now been turned into an amazing restaurant open to the public all year round.
