CHESTER ZOO

The attraction of Chester Zoo is amongst the must places to visit in Chester as it brings the living beings of the wildlife to you while making you learn about their natural habitats. Chester Zoo is one of the must-see tourist attractions in Chester where you’d get to meet wildlife animals. It was opened in 1931 by George Mottershead and has been marked amongst the largest zoos in the UK spread over an area of 130 acres. Instead of putting the animals in cage bars, Mottshead had decided to follow the modern idea of zoos and replaced the iron bars with moats and ditches.

On the other location of Chester Zoo, different tropical zoo sections inspired from the islands of East Asia, the forests of Madagascar, grasslands of East Africa, wetlands of Latin America and the national parks of India are created. The zoo is spread over a large area of 128 acres with more than 20,000 animals residing in it, you'd be walking 24 miles in a single day in order to cover the whole zoo.
