Therefore it has curated objects from fields of geology, biology, archeology, artworks, industry, and military of Chelmsford. Chelmsford Museum is based in a beautiful 19th-century house that has been turned into a museum that documents the history and industrial heritage of the city. It’s based in the Oaklands house and is listed among one of the several special places to visit in Chelmsford, the museum has more than 345 works of 112 artists. The building of the house has neo-classical architectural features and some interesting stories to tell about the neighborhood of Moulsham Street where it’s located.
You can recognize the house with creamy white wooden walls, large windows, a blue roof, and a large garden outside. The extensive collection at the museum has archeological objects from Roman times and a biology collection of local wildlife. It also houses a collection of fine arts by local artists on local subjects as well as industrial and military artifacts.
The museum also has a specific collection from the Museum of the Essex Regiment and the Essex Yeomanry which makes its military collection broader by including the French Imperial Eagle captured in 1812.
