CHATSWORTH HOUSE

This stately house has been home to nearly 16 generations of the Devonshire family and is today one of the most spectacular places to visit in the United Kingdom. It boasts over 25 elegant rooms and retells the interesting tale of each generation that has inhabited this fine country house.

One of the finest country houses in the UK, Chatsworth House is well known for its beautiful works of art, landscape, and hospitality. It has been passed down by almost 16 generations of the Devonshire family and holds a fascinating history of its inhabitants. Today the house contains artworks that cover almost 4000 years ranging from ancient Roman and Egyptian sculpture to awe inspiring masterpieces by renowned artists like Rembrandt, Reynolds and Veronese. It also boasts works by remarkable modern artists such as Edmund de Waal, Lucian Freud, and David Nash. 

There are about 25 rooms in the house that can be explored including the Painted Hall, the restored Sketch Galleries, the regal State Rooms, and beautiful Sculpture Gallery. The house stands amidst almost 1000 acres of parkland including about 100 acres of well kept formal gardens, a Farmyard and children’s Adventure Playground, along with cafés and gift shops.
