Formerly known as the Thornhill Mayne Memorial, the Allahabad public library is the best place to be for those of you who are bibliophiles or love literature. It is the most massive library in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh and is situated in the famous Alfred Park.
The building is a grand reminder of the Scottish Baronial revival architecture style trademark of the British period in India. 125000 books, 40 magazines, and several newspapers are collected in the library and are open to public access on demand.
If for nothing else, go to the library to admire the beautiful architecture of the Scottish Baronial style. It was designed by Richard Roskell Bayne and features sharp pillars and turrets throughout. The exquisite buildings will remind you of a dreamworld while the sprawling green surrounding will calm your soul.
